Brussels reviews tax-free shopping limit

Following a request from the UK Chancellor Gordon Brown, the European Commission is to investigate increasing the level of the tax-free allowance for travellers. The current limit of £145 is felt to be too low and the UK Treasury would like to see a higher duty-free level - perhaps as much as £1000.
