The European Commission welcomed the report published on 18 October 2005 by CARIM (Euro – Mediterranean Consortium for Applied Research on International Migration) on Mediterranean Migration in 2005. The Commission considered the report as a key step in addressing the serious deficit in the statistical observation and analysis of migration flows on both shores of the Mediterranean.
