Group president, Dutch Liberal MEP Gijs de Vries, was obliged to stand down over the summer after accepting a post in his country's new government. Under Dutch parliamentary rules, it is not possible to serve as both an MEP and a government minister. Irish Liberal Pat Cox was this week elected as De Vries' successor. |
