Press Release: Commission moves to strengthen practical co-operation between Member States on asylum management

In the Communication on Strengthened Practical Co-operation, adopted on 17 February 2006, the Commission presented its vision of how Member States should further co-operate on asylum with a view to the establishment of a fully harmonised EU system. The Communication set out a work programme for operational co-operation between Member States which should lead to improvements in the efficiency and the quality of their asylum systems.
