Date: 26/11/1998 Entre Nous can reveal that British cuisine, traditionally derided in the rest of Europe as an unappetising, greasy mess, is now gaining a wide and enthusiastic following amongst European Commission officials, even though they may not realise it themselves. When the EU bureaucrats file into the various Commission canteens for a leisurely lunch, little do they know that the tasty range of meat, fish and pasta dishes which they are tucking into is lovingly prepared by a UK-owned catering company. The EU Council of Ministers and the European Parliament, however, have yet to be convinced. Their canteens are supplied by local caterers. |
