Date: 13/07/2000 ... after a printing problem at a German mint raised concerns that criminals could easily produce counterfeit versions. The banknotes, dominated in €100, were printed by a Munich-based company and were about to be transported to the Bundesbank in Frankfurt when the defect was discovered. They were withdrawn less than 19 months before euro notes and coins are due to begin circulating. |
