Press Release: Mergers: Commission approves acquisition of Areva’s power transmission and distribution business by Alstom and Schneider

The European Commission approved on 26 March 2010 under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of Areva T&D Holding SA, a subsidiary of the French nuclear group Areva that manufactures equipment for the transmission and distribution of high- and medium-voltage electrical power, by . Schneider will acquire Areva's distribution business. Alstom will acquire the transmission activities as well as a limited number of distribution activities of Areva. The Commission concluded that the two operations, notified and granted clearance separately, will not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
