Date: 26/06/1997 Italy's Prime Minister Romano Prodi got his own back at the summit over the new British administration's announcement that it intended to be one of the EU's three leading players along with France and Germany. Prodi pointed out that Prime Minister Tony Blair was just like his predecessor.
