Date: 02/10/1997 Local government representatives who have acquired a taste for the jet-setting life could soon be grounded if the Committee of the Regions' latest high-tech venture takes off. The institution, whose raison d'être is to provide a direct link between the Union's movers and shakers in Brussels and ordinary citizens in its regions, is experimenting with an idea which could make it easier to do just that - 'virtual reality' meetings. The venue for the CoR's latest gathering was the brand new CyberTheatre in Brussels, where members linked up with colleagues in Madeira and West Attica for a debate on “cohesion and the information society”. |
