Date: 12/03/1998 has once again insisted that the duty free industry will not be given a reprieve from the June 1999 deadline for the abolition of tax-free sales of alcohol, luxury articles and cigarettes within the EU. Monti said in an interview there was no reason for the European Commission to change its abolition timetable. But he added that special help might be made available to cushion the impact of abolition on ferry companies and some regions. |
