Total passenger transport by rail remained more or less constant between 1990 and 1997, reaching a peak in 1992 when the European Union's rail networks carried 5,400 million passengers overall. Nine of 15 Member States recorded a rise in the number of rail passengers carried, between 1990 and 1997. |
