Press Release: Crime prevention: the Commission organises a high level conference on identity theft and payment fraud

On 22 and 23 November 2006, the European Commission organises in Brussels the Conference "Maintaining the integrity of identities and payments: Two challenges for fraud prevention". It aims at further strengthening public-private cooperation against identity theft and fraud on credit cards and other non-cash means of payment in order to increase security and respond effectively to issues that, as a recent Eurobarometer shows, are broadly perceived as widespread.
