New hope for AIDS sufferers

HIV/AIDS sufferers can expect to stay healthy longer according to latest EU-funded research. Long-term treatment with combination antiretroviral therapy (CART) can restore the immune system of HIV‑positive patients to a level similar to that of a healthy person. This is the key finding of a study conducted by London's Royal Free Centre for HIV medicine and UCL medical school, in collaboration with EuroSIDA, one of the projects funded by the EU.
