Hague tries to calm Tory EU anger

The (UK) Conservative Party leadership moved to quash a nascent rebellion by eurosceptic backbenchers, October 2007, by holding out the prospect that a future Conservative government would seek to remove the United Kingdom from the Treaty of Lisbon agreed by UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, at the informal European Council, 18-19 October 2007.
