Press Release: The Commission pays homage to Loyola de Palacio in a high level conference on energy in Madrid

The President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, together with Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes have taken part in Madrid in a high level conference on energy held in homage to Loyola de Palacio, former Vice President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Energy and Transport (2000-2005). Under the title "European Energy Challenges" the event has gathered the main leaders of the energy sector across Europe. "At the moment that energy is on the top of the European and global agenda, the vast and ambitious work of Loyola de Palacio shines more than ever", said Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs.
