Press Release: Free movement of services: infringement proceedings against France

The Commission has decided to send a reasoned opinion to France in a case in which the costs of medical treatment in another Member State were not reimbursed. The reasoned opinion is the second stage of the infringement proceedings provided for in Article 226 of the EC Treaty. If it does not receive a satisfactory reply within two months, the Commission may then refer the matter to the Court of Justice of the European Communities.
