Press Release: Mergers: Commission approves proposed acquisition of MAP by Antalis subject to commitments

The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition of the paper merchant MAP of the Netherlands, belonging to the Finnish M-Real group, by the French paper merchant Antalis. The Commission's clearance is conditional on the commitment by the parties to divest the UK paper merchant Premier, currently a subsidiary of MAP. In view of this commitment, the Commission concluded that the operation would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
