Merkel threat to extend minimum pay

German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, warned German business leaders on the 11 December 2008 that the government would impose more sector-specific minimum wages if companies did not use the voluntary collective wage agreements that have traditionally been a cornerstone of Europe’s largest economy.
