Press Release: Commission holds seminar on the future of the dairy sector in the context of the CAP Health Check

Mariann Fischer Boel, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, is inviting stakeholders to a seminar on the dairy sector on 11 January 2008. The conference will be open to the public through a web-streaming on the health check website of DG Agriculture. During the one day seminar, the Commission will present its ideas concerning the future of EU dairy policy and the report on the Dairy Market which was published in December 2007. The Commission will also unveil the preliminary results of a study on the effects of the expiry of the EU milk quota system on milk prices, production, exports and the competitiveness of the European dairy sector.
