Memorial to expellees helps ease strains

Germany hopes that one of the most difficult recent episodes in relations with Poland is over, following a decision on the 19 March 2008 by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cabinet to build a memorial to millions of Europeans expelled across national borders after the second world war.
