Press Release: Commission adopted the third annual report on achievements in Justice, Freedom and Security policies

On 2 July, 2008, the Commission adopted the third annual report on the implementation of the Hague Programme on achievements in Justice, Freedom and Security policies, also referred to as the Scoreboard. The Hague Programme, which covers 2005-2009, is the successor of the Tampere Programme which covered the period 1999-2004. The 2007 Scoreboard assesses progress made vis-à-vis actions envisaged in the Hague Action plan for 2007. Considerable achievements have been registered in the areas of Migration and Border Management, as well as Fight against terrorism. The findings also supported the need to improve decision-making in the areas covered by Title VI of the EU Treaty (police cooperation and judicial cooperation in criminal matters).
