Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, said following today's bomb attack in Algeria: I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and my condolences to the families of those affected by this terrible attack. This type of act is barbaric and does not achieve any purpose. Algeria can count on Europe for its support in the fight against terrorism, which today is a world wide problem, provided it is in accordance with the rule of law and respect for human rights. My thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones and I wish a speedy recovery to those injured in this attack.' |
