Services were the main activity of 14.5 million enterprises in the EU-27 in 2005, which generated a turnover of €11,974 billion. Producing a value added of €2,991 billion and employing 76 million persons, Services accounted for respectively 56% and 60% of the non-financial business economy (NACE Sections C to I and K). In terms of employment, it was the largest sector, well ahead of Industry (NACE C to E) and Construction (NACE F), which had shares of 29% and 11% respectively. |
