An alternative fusion project to the ITER fusion venture has been kicked off in Europe in October 2008 that would seek abundant clean energy using a colossal laser the size of a football stadium. The HipPER programme is seen as a necessary complementary route. HiPER is a proposed European High Power laser Energy Research facility dedicated to demonstrating the feasibility of laser driven fusion as a future energy source. |
