Medvedev to host talks as Europe’s supply fears grow

Russia has invited European Union leaders and Ukraine to a meeting in Moscow, 17 January 2009 in an attempt to resolve the dispute over natural gas supplies that has left thousands of people in south-east Europe without fuel.

The European Commission warned Russian and Ukrainian gas companies of legal action over a dispute which has left many Europeans without heat.
