Hesse poll could boost Merkel

Article suggest that voters in the German state of Hesse could hand Chancellor Angela Merkel a resounding victory in regional elections on the 18 January 2009, giving her party an early advantage in the build-up to the September 2009 national election but complicating efforts to pass a second economic stimulus package.
