From 15-17 June, 2009, the 98th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), the highest tripartite authority of the International Labour Organisation, held a Summit on the Global Jobs Crisis. Representing the European Commission in a Panel on 'Global and regional coordination to address the jobs crisis', Commissioner Vladimír Špidla presented the Commission's recent initiative on a 'Shared Commitment for Employment'. In welcoming the ILO's proposal for a Global Jobs Pact, he highlighted the benefits of global cooperation in tackling the employment and social effects of the crisis. |
