Press Release: Council strengthens the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund to counter crisis

The Council adopted today (11.6.09) a revised regulation on the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF), following a first reading agreement with the European
Parliament. The main objective of the new regulation is to
enable the EGF to make earlier interventions in favour of workers made redundant as a result of globalisation as well as to improve the attractiveness of the fund and to strengthen the solidarity in the context of the current economic and financial crisis.
