New Greek prime minister visits Turkey

George Papandreou, Greece’s new Prime Minister, made an unexpected visit to Istanbul on the 9 October 2009 for talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan aimed at re-invigorating bilateral relations. 'Re-launching a substantive dialogue with Turkey is a priority for the government,' a Greek official said.
