EU delays vote on hedge fund rules

European Union lawmakers have formally postponed in June 2010 a vote on new rules to regulate hedge funds and private equity funds until September 2010, at the earliest.

A vote of the full European Parliament had been scheduled for July 2010, but negotiations between parliamentarians, EU member states and the European Commission aimed at producing a single text which all will support have proved extremely difficult.
