Press Release: State aid: European Commission opens in-depth investigation into aid to French aeronautic suppliers

The European Commission has opened a formal investigation procedure under EU State aid rules into the French 'Aero 2008' measure, which offers exchange rate risk insurance to companies supplying parts to aircraft manufacturers.

The Commission doubts that the insurance is provided on market terms and, if it is not, that it is in line with EU State aid rules. The opening of an in-depth investigation gives interested parties the possibility to submit comments. It does not prejudge the outcome of the investigation. It will allow the Commission to evaluate if the measure distorts competition.
