France and UK seek closer military ties

France and Britain stepped up their talks about strengthening bilateral defence co-operation on the 3 September 2010 but ruled out the idea of sharing aircraft carriers as 'utterly unrealistic'.

The two governments want to make practical defence co-operation a cornerstone of a new Franco-British relationship.
