Press Release: Mergers: European Commission approves joint venture between Shell and Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer Cosan

The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the creation of a joint venture between Shell Brazil Holding B.V. belonging to Shell Group of the UK and Cosan S.A. Indústria e Comércio of Brazil, for the production, distribution and sale of sugar, ethanol and related products. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
