Press Release: EU welcomes UN resolution on the safety and security of humanitarian workers

The European Union strongly supports the resolution adopted by the United Nations, on "Safety and security of humanitarian personnel and protection of United Nations personnel". The resolution underlines the importance of the safety of humanitarian aid workers, whose work has become increasingly dangerous with a sharp rise in incidents of harassment, violent attacks and deaths. The text is reviewed annually by the UN General Assembly, and has been drafted with EU facilitation.
