At the Informal Meeting of EU Ministers responsible for health, which took place at the Royal Palace of Gödöllo in Hungary on 3-5 April 2011, the Director of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Mark Sprenger, highlighted a number of public health challenges facing the EU, such as extending vaccination to currently under-immunised populations and controlling the spread of resistant bacteria.
