EU chiefs line up for John Paul II beatification

The late John Paul II was beatified and declared 'blessed' by current Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican on the 1 May 2011, bringing the late pontiff one step closer to sainthood. More than one million people gathered in St. Peter's Square for the Mass.
