Big banks fire thousands in Europe, but hiring in China

EUobserver reports that eight of Europe's biggest banks announced tens of thousands of job cuts in Britain, France, Spain and Switzerland in July and August 2011 in a bid to reduce salary costs, but would keep expanding and hiring new staff in China, other Asian countries and in Latin America.
