Belgium close to forming new government

A year-and-a-half after parliamentary elections in Belgium in June 2010, a new government appeared on the verge of being formed in December 2011. Six parties agreed on a new administration headed by a French-speaking Socialist, Elio Di Rupo.

The new cabinet was formally appointed on the 5 December 2011, day 540 after the elections of the 13 June 2010.
