Clarke rejects call for EU power grab

The United Kingdom Justice Minister and pro-European, Ken Clarke put himself at odds with his Prime Minister David Cameron on the 6 December 2011 by saying Britain should focus on 'how to maintain the financial stability of the western world'” at the European Council summit in Brussels, 8-9 December 2011, instead of trying to wring concessions out of eurozone countries.
