Oil embargo on Iran and the threat to the Straits of Hormuz

This note provides details of preparations being made by EU countries, in January 2012, to impose a new round of sanctions on Iran, which would include an embargo on the import of oil. The EU was also planning to impose restrictions on the Iranian central bank.
