GM unveils Europe restructuring plan / GM to shut Bochum plant after 2016

The head of General Motors’ Europe arm Karl-Friedrich Stracke told its German workers on the 14 May 2012 that he would have to restructure production of the Astra model in order to help return the European operation to profitability.

In recent months, there had been media reports suggesting that GM was planning to close 'one or two' of its seven factories in Europe in efforts to achieve a turnaround.
