Commission mulls fiscal IDs to stop tax evasion

EurActiv reported on 20 June 2012 that it had seen an internal document which stated that the European Commission was considering setting up a single European tax identification number for EU citizens and companies in order to improve tax collection rates.

The proposal was part of a report that the Commission was to put forward ahead of the European Summit on 28-29 June 2012.
