Western powers to end Kosovo oversight role

Kosovo will receive full status as a sovereign state beginning in September 2012, according to an announcement made on the 2 July 2012 by the International Steering Group (ISG) - made up of 23 European nations, the United States, and Turkey - which had been overseeing Kosovo since it unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008.
