The democratic revolutions that plague the Northern Africa region have opened once again, among others, the debate on the functioning of EU policies in this region. This work aims to assess implementation of the sanctions policy of the European Union in three countries under study: Egypt, Tunisia and Libya. After analysing European foreign policy in the Mediterranean, and the historical opportunism that the actual political context provides for the reformulation of the Euro-Mediterranean relations, we will conclude by questioning the European intervention when it comes to crisis management and, in particular, the efficiency of its sanctioning instruments.
