Report from the Commission to the European Parliament and the Council on the implementation of Regulation (EC) No 762/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 July 2008 on the submission by Member States of statistics on aquaculture and repealing Council Regulation (EC) No 788/96

On 9 July 2008 the Regulation (EC) No 762/2008 on the submission by Member States of Statistics on Aquaculture (the 'Aquaculture Statistics Regulation') was adopted by the European Parliament and the Council. The Regulation applied from 1 January 2009 and repealed Council Regulation (EC) No 788/96.

The Regulation aims to meet the need for a wider range of data for monitoring of the aquaculture sector and its production in recognition of its important role in the EU. This report documents the progress made by Member States and EEA countries, together with the Commission, with respect to the provisions of this Regulation.
