SPD picks Steinbrück to run against Merkel

EurActiv and other news sources report that Germany's opposition Social Democrats (SPD) formally nominated former Finance Minister Peer Steinbrück on the 9 December 2012 as their candidate to run for Chancellor against Angela Merkel in the September 2013 federal election.
