Leading journalists appeared before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on European Union Affairs on 28 February 2013, for a wideranging discussion, which centred on how Ireland could best manage the challenges presented in an evolving European Union. The meeting explored the following topics: Financial, budgetary and economic policy integration in the EU; democratic accountability, legitimacy and political union; the UK and the EU - implications for Ireland. It was the second in a series of meetings on Ireland and the future of the European Union, the first having taken place on 21 February 2013. |
