Resource efficiency has become a priority in the EU. Evidence indicates that using resources more efficiently reduces material costs for companies, opens new business opportunities and improves competitiveness. Improving the efficiency of the European macro-economic system will require structural change. Resource efficiency indicators are needed to set quantifiable targets and measure progress toward absolute decoupling and a green economy. |
