This report examines the consequences to the United Kingdom should the Government choose to opt-out of approximately 130 EU police and criminal justice measures, that were adopted before the Treaty of Lisbon in 2009. The Committee concludes that the Government has not made a convincing case to opt-out and that to do so would have significant negative repercussions for the UK's internal security; and expresses disappointment with the lack of engagement by the Government with Parliament, the Devolved Administrations and key stakeholders. |
