Up to €2.2 billion was stolen in public and EU funds in eight member states in 2010, according to a report commissioned by the EU anti-fraud agency Olaf. France, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Spain were selected at random for the study. The study said the cost of corruption is equivalent to 3 to 4 percent of the total procurement budget. |
